Root Canal Treatment

If a cavity or damaged tooth reaches the deeper portions of the tooth, the nerve may become infected. In this case, a root canal is required. A root canal procedure cleans out the infected nerve and removes the damaged pulp so that the tooth can be saved!

+What should I do to prevent needing a root canal?

At Great Care Dental, we focus on comprehensive examinations and evaluations of teeth, including their interiors, to help spot issues in their very earliest stages so more extensive damage can be avoided. We believe in using a more conservative approach whenever possible, providing the most in-depth examinations to ward off decay, infection and damage in all areas of the tooth so root canal can be avoided whenever possible.

+Are there alternatives to root canals?

In general, it's almost always better to preserve the tooth when possible. A single lost tooth can cause bone atrophy, weakening the roots of neighboring teeth and causing a “domino effect” of additional tooth loss over time. However, if you are not a good candidate for a root canal, dental implants an ideal tooth replacement method. Implants are the best, long-term option to replace a tooth!
